March bracelet “Martis”

One of the Greek custom is wearing March bracelet called “Martis”. March is traditionally considered the first month of spring and hopefully will bring lots of sunshine! The people wear the bracelet to protect themselves from being burnt by the sun. The bracelet has to have two colours – red and white. Red colour symbolizes life and passion and white colour purity. The bracelet should be worn from the first of March until you see the first stork or swallow returning from migration or the first blossoming tree, all heralding, the arrival of spring. After that the bracelet is removed and hung on a fruit tree in order to keep it healthy, lucky and to make sure of a good harvest of fruit.
So that’s why I’ve decided to buy one “Martis”. Have a look:
