My story

My name is Lucie, I am 33 years old and I come from the Czech Republic. In 2016 I finished my masters in Mediterranean studies and Comparative literature. During my studies I participated in two summer courses of Greek language, first in Athens in Greece (7 weeks) and then in Nicosia in Cyprus (4 weeks). That was actually the first time when I was alone in a foreign country for more than one month.

I didn’t travel much before, I just went abroad for holidays with my parents and that was all. In 2013, after finishing my bachelor studies, I decided to try to work as a hotel entertainer during the summer season. Because of my studies I was able to go abroad just for three months so it was a bit complicated to find a job for such a “short” time.

Fortunately, one agency offered me a job

in Greece which was actually my preferable destination, especially because I was hoping to improve my Greek language skills. At the end I spent three months in Kós island. My first season in hotel entertainment taught me a lot and it was an amazing experience. And that’s actually how everything started in summer 2013. Since that time I started to travel much more and now it’s my passion!

Before my second season in animation in Peloponnese in 2014, I applied for the Erasmus exchange programme at my university. In January 2015 I went to study to the second biggest city of Greece, Thessaloniki. I spent one semester there writing my thesis, studying, travelling and partying. I also started to write my blog that time because I wanted to share all of my adventures with my friends. It used to be called “Thesserasmus story” but then I decided to change it for current “Lucie’s world” where I share my experience from animation seasons and other travels. In 2017 I also made a facebook page of my blog where I share more photos.

Anyway, when the semester in Thessaloniki was over, to avoid the after-Erasmus depression I stayed in Greece, in Corfu island, for my third animation season.

In 2016, after finishing my studies, I changed the destination country for Spain and I spent four months in Mallorca. That was the first season when I was working completely alone in the hotel entertainment. At the beginning I was scared but it turned out that it’s not bad at all.

During four seasons in entertainment I realized that I just want to do it again. Working in hotel entertainment gives you an opportunity to live in foreign country, actually for free (there is free accommodation provided), to have good salary that you can save much money from, to meet many people from all around the world, to learn how to talk to people, how to cooperate with them, to try typical dishes of the country for free (there is full board in the hotel restaurant) and much more. Of course, it’s not an easy job, it’s quite hard but it’s definitely worth trying.

I personally love animation. You just never know what to expect. Every hotel has different animation, different guests, different working hours and different possibilities. It also depends on your colleagues, it’s necessary to get on well with them in order to be able to provide good job.

2017

In 2017 I could finally spent the whole season abroad. I went to Spain again and I spent a season in Menorca. I fell in love with that island and I met many amazing people there!

2018

In January 2018, I took a flight to Granada where I was looking for a job. From February till April I was working in hotel animation in Almuñécar. It was completely different experience but I really enjoyed it there.

From May 2018 till October I was working again in Menorca, in the same hotel. After that I went for short holidays back home and then again to Almuñécar to cover 15 days of other animator’s holidays. In December I also spent a week in Morocco with my brother. That’s when I actually started to use the Instagram – you can check @lucie.s.world.

In 2019 I went to Asia for the first time. I was travelling three weeks in Thailand with my three bodyguards. Later on I spent some days in Andalusia, Thessaloniki and England. In April 2019 new animation season started for me, I was back in Mallorca. It was also completely different experience since I was working in a hotel complex and several times we organized events together with other hotels. And also, that time I had my brother and one of my friends working there in the same complex.

2020

Anyway, when I came back home after the season in Mallorca, I started to plan my travel to India. In January/February 2020 I fulfiled my dream, I went to India and I became a certified yoga teacher in Sarvaguna Yoga School. It was an unforgettable experience!

At the beginning of March 2020 I took a flight to Spain and I started to work again in Almuñécar. Unfortunately, the situation got complicated due to the pandemia but I was lucky to be able to stay in Spain anyway. I passed the quarantine there, when the hotel re-opened, I could start working there again till September. Then the second covid wave came and I got jobless and was forced to go back to my home country. I stayed in the Czech Republic till the end of May 2021 and after that I went back to Almuñécar.

2021/2022

In June 2021 I started working again in the Hotel Helios Costa Tropical in Almuñécar. I was very happy to be back. I worked there till December 2022, during the time I went two times for holidays (back home). In April 2022 I got a chance to visit Mikulov, a picturesque Czech town.

2023

At the beginning of 2023 I went back to India for my 300hrs yoga teacher training. I spent there 7 weeks and it was an incredible experience. I loved it there!

Anyway, I am back in Spain now, preparing my two new projects. Hopefully, everything will go well. I’ll keep you informed!
